Registration:  Once a child has been registered, he/she is expected to carry on through the whole year.  A place has been reserved for your child. If you decide to stop taking lessons earlier - 1 extra month of tuition fees will be withheld - except in cases of relocation, illness, or compassionate reasons.  You will be refunded any unused books that are still in shrink wrap. Thank you.

Practice:  Students are to practice their music at home, including scales/chords. Set aside a definite time each day for practice works best, take one day off that’s very busy.  Your child will easily become discouraged if they are not prepared.  Be sure to reward them.  Children love to be noticed and praised.

Parking: Please park in the driveway as this makes it a lot safer getting in and out of your vehicle.  There should be ample room for everyone.  Thank you.

Disruptive Students:  All moms and dads understand children need to be cared for. Please take your child aside to determine the problem.  A little ‘one on one’ time or a time out, might be all that is needed. Be patient and understanding.  If the disruption continues, please feel free to leave early.  Don’t feel embarrassed - you are being a good parent.

Siblings:  Having siblings sitting in who are not a part of the class.  Its better to not bring them as they can be a distraction not only for others in the class but also to me, the teacher.  Since my music studio insurance only covers those who are registered in the program, only the student registered plus parent who partners with the child can come to class.  This is not only a protection to me but to you as well ..  Thank you for your co-operation.

Private Students: The curriculum consists of pieces in their grade level (classical/pop).  Technique (scales, chords, etc) improves all aspects of their playing.  I feel that it’s important that students learn familiar songs on their own.  Make sure it’s below their grade level so they don’t get frustrated and it can be learned fairly quickly. That accomplishment means so much and builds confidence and self-esteem.

Purchasing Books:  If any parents would like to purchase books themselves, make sure you know your child’s level.  Feel free to ask me for advice.

Ultimate Music Theory Curriculum:
The Theory Course I use covers all materials needed for each RCM grade level.  Students will be expected to have their homework done in time for next class.  We always want this to be a positive experience. Discouragement can set in if they get behind.  https://youtu.be/Yi1DoNAj-ho

Music for Young Children Curriculum:  Introduce your child to the world of music through small group lessons. All classes are age appropriate. This program gives kids a good music foundation.

Wearing of Masks: I will be leaving the decision for parents to decide whether or not to wear masks when it is not mandatory according to government regulations.  Let me know if you prefer me to wear a mask while teaching your child, I understand.

Sickness:  Please do not come to music lessons if you are sick.  Zoom is another option if you are well enough.  Please contact me and give me a heads up.

Canceled MYC & UMT Classes The curriculum will be adjusted to ensure that all course content is covered.   Please contact me for the lesson plan if you missed a class so your child doesn’t get behind.

Canceled Private Lessons, no makeup lesson will be given because of tight scheduling, unless a lot have been missed. There is no refund for missed lessons, same as what happens in hockey, dance, etc.
Please note: All Lessons are charged by the year, not by the lesson. Payments can be made either monthly or in lump sums - Thank you.

Recitals & Year-end concert: I feel performing and small gatherings very important.  All students are encouraged to participate. All performances are in a fun and exciting environment   They benefit from added self-confidence needed in performing in front of an audience.
